This software package and especially the custom processing modules, are heavily
inspired and influenced by Gerd Krahmann from GEOMAR, `who deceased surprisingly on the 8th of October 2024 <https://www.geomar.de/en/news/article/trauer-um-geomar-mitarbeiter-dr-gerd-krahmann/>`_.
He knew the ins and outs of the original Sea-Bird
processing modules like no one else and was thus able to reverse engineer a lot
of features and used these in his own, extensive processing suite. Since his
suite is written in matlab and not modular/extensible, I took the liberty to
rewrite some of this ideas in flexible python modules, to make them available
to a wider audience.
